Snuggling into my bed with a nice drink and a classic Audrey Hepburn movie was quite a treat. I adore her enchanting ways. What made this even more enjoyable was the presence of Humphrey Bogart, one of my most favourite actors. Oh the golden era, they certainly don't make them like this anymore.
Sabrina was made in 1954 by Billy Wilder but as my friend pointed out, a remake was released in 1995 starring Harrison Ford. But lets face it, no one can top the magic that Bogey and Audrey bought to the screen. I was captivated.
Audrey stars as Sabrina, her father the English chauffeur to the wealthy Larrabee family, made up of brothers Linus (Bogart) and David (William Holden). A romantic comedy centered around the ugly duckling premise, Sabrina grows from a silly youngster in her fathers garage to a graceful, elegant woman following her trip to Paris. The two brothers fight for her affections, their personal vices ultimately hampering their attempts at winnning Sabrina. Linus is the business assertive bachelor with a Yale education and David is a playboy, marrying as many times as he changed colleges.
A funny, sweet romantic comedy, this is adorable. An extra gold star for featuring Edith Piaf's song 'La Vie En Rose' sung by Audrey. Heavenly.
